Often, however, there is confusion between two key documents: the classification analysis\u2014or test report\u2014and the safety data sheet (SDS), sometimes referred to as the \u201capproval sheet.\u201d <\/strong><\/span><\/h3>

1. Classification Analysis: A \u201cSnapshot\u201d of Waste<\/b><\/span><\/h2>

A chemical classification analysis is the document that determines the actual identity of the waste at the time it is generated. It is a \u201csnapshot\u201d of the waste prepared by an accredited laboratory. <\/span><\/p>

  • What it’s used for:<\/b> It is essential for correctly assigning the <\/span>EER Code<\/b> (European Waste List) and to determine whether the waste is <\/span>hazardous<\/b> or <\/span>non-hazardous<\/b> by checking the hazard classes (HP).<\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Why it is necessary:<\/b> The law (Legislative Decree 152\/06) stipulates that the responsibility for proper classification rests entirely with the <\/span>waste generator<\/b>. Without an up-to-date analysis, the generator risks heavy penalties, including criminal ones.<\/span><\/span><\/li><\/ul>

    2. The Safety Data Sheet (SDS): The Product Profile<\/b><\/span><\/h2>

    The Safety Data Sheet is a technical document prepared by the <\/span>manufacturer of a chemical substance or mixture<\/b>. It is intended to inform the user about the hazards of the \u201cnew\u201d product and the preventive measures to be taken during use, storage, and transport.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

    • What this indicates:<\/b> Chemical and physical properties, health hazards, first aid measures, and fire safety procedures.<\/span><\/span><\/li>
    • Waste Limits:<\/b> The SDS applies to the product as it leaves the factory. Once that product enters the production cycle and becomes a <\/span>waste<\/b>, its characteristics may change drastically due to contamination, reactions, or mixing with other residues.<\/span><\/span><\/li><\/ul>

      3. The Type Approval Certificate: The Bridge to Installation<\/b><\/span><\/h2>
