Recovery of precious metals from industrial waste and scrap

The recovery of precious metals from industrial waste is a strategic solution to valorize waste materials, reintroducing them into production cycles, thereby reducing the environmental impact of operations and developing sustainable production models based on the circular economy.

Numerous industrial processes generate residues containing high-value metals, including gold (Au), silver (Ag), platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd), and rhodium (Rh). The recovery of precious metals from industrial waste offers numerous advantages for companies, primarily: reduction of disposal costs and recovery of strategic raw materials.

We are interested in evaluating the following materials to formulate a potential economic offer:

1

Photo-radiographic films

Traditional analog radiographic films - dry view digital films - industrial radiographic films (NDT) - photographic films from printed circuits - lithographic films from graphic arts;

2

Acid baths containing exhausted solutions, sludges, residues and powders

Electroplating galvanic baths containing Au, Ag, Pd, Pt, Rh - photographic fixing and bleaching baths - ion exchange filters and resins containing Au, Ag, Pd - anode sludges containing Au, Ag, Pd, Rh - pickling sludges containing Ag;

3

Spent catalysts

Spent catalysts from chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical industries and from NOx abatement systems on activated carbon or alumina support containing Pd, Pt, Rh;

4

Alloys and plated metal components

Cu/Ag metal alloys, soldering alloys with Ag - components and metal scraps based on copper, brass, bronze plated with Au, Ag, Pd, Rh - high fashion and costume jewelry items plated with Au, Ag, Pd - Au, Ag/Pd contacts - Cu/Ag relays - granulates from grinding electronic components containing precious metals (PC boards);

5

WEEE

PC motherboards, laptop boards, video cards, CD/DVD boards, hard drive boards - mobile phone boards - telecommunications panels, boards from military equipment - ceramic and plastic CPU processors, processor SLOTs, gold-plated RAM, combs, IC chips/eprom;

6

Other materials containing precious metals

Silver oxide batteries - pastes and colors for artistic ceramics containing Au, Pd - Sn/Ag solder paste - artistic glass containing Au or Ag - thermocouple wires - full cells - electrocatheters, defibrillators and pacemakers.
